submissions

The Quirk is closed to submissions for Issue 2. Submissions may still be sent for consideration in Issue 3.

LITERARY SUBMISSIONS: The Quirk is interested in all literary forms, but is, at its core, a poetry journal. For each issue, we will accept roughly fifty poems, three short fictions (3000 words or less, preferably less than 1000), two creative non-fiction, and two essays. Though we do feature some of the top writers in the small and large presses, we are committed to printing the best work sent to us, no matter who the author.

Please send a SASE with sufficient postage to send back your work, along with up to seven poems, two short stories, two creative non-fictions, or two essays to editors@thequirk.org or to:

Previously published is okay if your work is phenomenal, but is generally discouraged. If you do send us previously published material, please send the information regarding where and when it was published. No simultaneous or multiple submissions. Please put QUIRK SUBMISSION in the subject line if you choose to send electronically, and include your mailing address, a very brief bio, and a recent picture of yourself. If we have not responded to your submission within a month, please inquire. Rights to submitted material reverts back to the author upon publication or rejection. Please be aware that we choose some work, literary and graphic, to feature on our website. Inform us if this is a problem prior to the material's appearance online.

ART SUBMISSIONS: You may also send up to ten pieces of artwork or a link to an online directory through email or postal service. If sending postally, we encourage using high-quality copies of your work instead of originals. We cannot guarantee the safe, undamaged return of original art. The Quirk retains the rights to use any submitted artwork in promotional material for either The Quirk or TheQuirk.org, though the copyright will still belong to the artist.

GENERAL: The Quirk has two editors who independently read and vote on every piece submitted. For a piece to become accepted, it must receive a positive vote from both editors.
